Your raise shouldn't be a fire drill.

Back offices are usually built around tax deadlines, so when a raise comes, investors ask for metrics nobody's been tracking. We map out what your next raise will need and put it in place ahead of time, based on where your numbers actually are. You start small, add more as you grow, and have support all the way to your first in-house finance hire.

Flightplan is our back-office roadmap, built from the more than 500 companies we've taken through it. It places you in one of four stages, Launchpad, Launch, Iterate or Scale, by what you've raised, what you're billing and what you're spending, not your round name. Each stage lays out what to have in place across accounting, finance, tax and people ops before you reach the next one.

Setup takes less of your time than you'd think. A dedicated onboarding team runs a defined, flat-fee engagement, and your part is a short checklist and a kickoff call. Everyone starts with accounting, then adds finance, tax or people ops when the company needs it. Bigger projects, like moving to a new HRIS or PEO, are scoped separately.

As you grow, we add what each stage needs, like people ops when hiring picks up or finance when you need a forecast, without you switching firms. When a raise is coming, that finance work covers your board pack and KPI dashboard, on top of clean, closed books. And when it's time to hire your own finance team, we hand over working systems they can run from day one.

See it in practice.

“At the beginning of a startup and for a very long time, if there's a lot of work but not enough to hire a full-time finance person, it usually falls on the CEO to do that work. By using a fractional finance service, specifically airCFO, I was able to free a lot of mental space to go focus on growing the team and product.”

We can usually begin onboarding within a few days of a signed engagement letter. Your onboarding team handles setup and your first close, then hands you off to your account team, typically within your first 30 to 60 days.

Your monthly fee covers the core work for the service lines you turn on, like month-end close, reconciliations and standard reporting for accounting. One-off work, like a cash-to-accrual conversion, a new AP software setup or audit support, is scoped and billed separately.

Yes. We'll coordinate with your outgoing firm or bookkeeper to keep the handoff clean, then take over the books from there.

No. Cleanup is billed hourly, separately from your monthly fee, so messy books aren't a reason to wait. We'd rather start sooner and fix them than have you hold off.

Your package and monthly rate move to the next stage, and we add what it calls for, like board reporting ahead of a raise. We'll talk it through with you before anything changes.

No. Engagements are month-to-month with 30 days' notice to cancel.

We call that graduation, and it's our goal to get you there. We hand off working systems, so your new team inherits a functioning back office instead of a rebuild.

Presenting a package is table stakes. Having what a raise requires already built when those four weeks arrive is not.
